Before taking Champix, you should know the following things about it:
Champix is available in doses of 0.5 mg (white) and 1 mg (blue) tablets
Start with an initial Champix dose of 0.5 mg once a day or as advised by your doctor
You may increase the Champix dose to 0.5 mg twice daily after three days
Champix dosage may be increased to 1 mg twice daily after seven days; the day when you should stop smoking completely
Champix should be consumed with a full glass of water (8 ounces) after your meals
Try not to skip a Champix dose; however if missed don’t take a double dose and skip the missed dose
The effect of Champix may vary from individual to individual, so it is advisable to take Champix under doctor's supervision. The Champix dosage given above may not apply to everyone and should be decided by your doctor. The treatment will take at least 12 weeks.
You may talk to your doctor if you cannot abstain from nicotine during these 12 weeks.
Always keep a record of the use of drugs like insulin, asthma medicines, and blood thinners if you are taking Champix, as you may need to change the dose of these medicines before starting and after ending the Champix treatment.
Storage
Champix should be stored at room temperature (18°C to 30°C), away from moisture, sunlight and heat. Keep Champix out of the reach of children. Do not keep this medication in the bathroom or the kitchen.
